Hallo Germany — Mind the Distance in APIs

Mind the Distance in APIs

Closing the distance between API consumers, producers, and business needs?

APIOps meetups start in Germany - sign up.

APIOps Cycles method localized in multiple languages!

APIs aren’t just technical contracts. They reflect how close or distant we are from solving real business needs.

Too often, we see two kinds of distance:

  • Technical distance — too many layers of apps, agents, or wrappers on top of APIs. Fragility grows, and nobody remembers what the original API was for.
  • Social distance — too many hand-offs between business and developers. The original intent gets lost in translation, and trust suffers.

The result? APIs that work technically but fail to deliver real business value.

💡 The good news is that distance can be reduced. And that’s exactly what we’ll explore in the APIOps community European meetup tour, starting in Germany this fall.

Join us to:

  • Share experiences of API “distance” in practice.
  • Learn strategies from the APIOps Cycles method to keep APIs aligned and trusted.
  • Connect with peers who care about building APIs that deliver business impact.

Hi Reader, This is not another API conference. We’re doing something different with APIOps Helsinki. Most APIs today weren’t designed for: – AI agents – Cross-team platform ownership – Real governance and lifecycle decisions And it shows. So instead of talks, we’re building a working event: → teams bring real API / IAM / platform problems → and work through them with peers No slides without consequences. What this means in practice: Smaller, curated group (~100–150 people) More engineers,...
